40 Years of Growth: Lessons on Leading With Joy
I’m officially 40! 🎉
This milestone has me feeling reflective, especially about the journey to living a life centered on joy and wellness. Over the years, I’ve learned that thriving in leadership isn’t just about meeting professional demands—it’s about nurturing the habits, mindsets, and relationships that sustain you in the long haul.
Here are three lessons I’ve embraced leading up to my 40th year that have impacted my life and leadership:
Pace yourself for the long game.
Like the run/walk method I shared recently, sustainability is critical to thriving in leadership. It’s not about sprinting to every finish line but knowing when to push and when to rest. You can do hard things.
Whether handling tough conversations at work or navigating personal growth, I’ve learned to trust my ability to rise to the occasion through focused, consistent action.Center joy daily.
Joy isn’t an afterthought—it’s essential. Prioritizing joy during busy seasons and seeking glimmers of joy during challenging times recharges me and gives me the capacity to lead with more intention and clarity.
As I continue on this journey, I’m committed to leading with joy, wellness, and purpose—and helping you do the same.
A Moment of Reflection:
As we move through autumn and start the journey to the end of the year, consider these questions:
How are you pacing yourself in your leadership journey?
What’s one “hard thing” you’ve done recently that you’re proud of?
How are you centering joy in your daily life?
Thank you for being part of my community and walking this journey with me. Let’s continue to thrive together!
With gratitude,
Tamisha
P.S. I’d love to hear reflections—feel free to reply and share your reflections!
